Mudra For Lack of Appetite

A decreased appetite occurs when you have a reduced desire to eat.
It may also be known as a poor appetite or loss of appetite.
A wide variety of conditions can cause your appetite to decrease, ranging from mental conditions to physical illnesses.

Reasons of Loss of Appetite

Improper lifestyle and eating habits are one of the leading causes of loss of appetite. Other causes like pregnancy, metabolic problems, chronic liver disease, COPD, dementia, HIV, hepatitis, hypothyroidism, chronic kidney failure, heart failure, cocaine, heroin, speed, chemotherapy, morphine, codeine, and antibiotics also causes it. Mudras are very much useful to balance the doshas. According to the Ayurveda, a decrease of Pitta is one of the reasons for loss of appetite. Practice of Pitta increasing mudras are useful to overcome this condition.

How to do Surya mudra

Place the tips of ring finger at the base of the thumb finger to form Surya mudra.

Pitta-Kaarak mudra or Kapha-nashak mudra

Place the tips of the little finger, finger at the bottom of thumb finger to form Pitta-kaarak mudra.
Vaayan mudra

How to do Vaayan mudra

Join the tips of the index finger, middle finger and thumb finger to form Vaayan mudra.

Duration of mudra practice

45 minutes of regular practice or 15 minutes thrice a day. You have to do mudras with both the hands.
Precautions

If you are a Pitta excess person, then do these mudras in moderation only.

Mahasirs mudra to relieve a headache

 

Hand mudras are different hand postures. According to the Chinese medicine, our hands have the power of healing . Five fingers in our hand represent five element – Earth, air,water, fire and space. Whenever the equilibrium of these elements is disturbed, our body fall sick. If we can create a balance of these elements, we can maintain a state of well-being. In this post, you will get the information about how to do Mahasirs mudra and how mahasirs mudra relieve  a headache and other mudras for headache.

How to do Mahasirs Mudra

Place the tip of the thumb finger index finger and middle fingers are together.

1) Place the ring finger into the fold of the thumb.

2) keep ring finger extended.

3) Join the Index finger, middle finger with the thumb finger at the tip.

4)  you have to do it with both the hands.

Do as and when you are suffering from a headache or three times a day for 6 minutes.

 

 

Why Headache occurs?

Let us see what are the main reasons for a headache. There are certain numbers of factors responsible for a headache such as allergies, eye strain, climate change. Sometimes neck, back or pelvic pain can also stimulate a headache. The problem with digestion can also cause a headache.You would have observed that when you are suffering from acidity, it triggers a headache as well. Sometimes sensitivity to sound and light also become a reason for a severe headache. A headache is a signal to slow down. Take some rest and sleep. I usually get a headache when I don’t have proper sleep. And generally, it goes when I sleep for few hours. So it is a signal that your body and mind are tired and need rest.

Sometimes it becomes difficult to find out exact reason for headache. Then, find a comfortable chair or lie down. Inhale and exhale extensively. By doing this you are taking and relieving more oxygen. It will help to release toxins from your body. Roll your shoulders, neck and head. This will assist in releasing extra tension from your head part.

Now Practice the Mahasirs mudra. Keep your hands on the thigh or by your side. Inhale and exhale and focus on breathing into your belly. Observe the fall and rise of the belly. Do it for 6 minutes and then relax for some time. Keep your eyes closed.

 

How Mahasirs mudra relieves a headache?

All the above causes can result in too much energy being focused on the head. It can lead to tension and causes headache. It is important to direct your consciousness to other parts of the body.

What is the importance of Maharasirs mudra?

Mahasirs mudra helps to balances out this energy that has been concentrated on the single part of the body. It has a tension-relieving effect. It also eliminates mucous congestion in the in the frontal sinuses.

Placing the tip of the index finger on the base of thumb finger will form Vayu mudra. Vayu mudra decreases the air element within the body which results to reduce Vata dosha. Decreasing Vata dosha helps to calm the mind.

Placing the tips of index and middle on the base of thumb finger will form vata-nashak mudra. This mudra also gives the same benefits of Vayu mudra.

Regular practice of any of this mudra for a 30 to 45 minutes duration will give excellent results. If you are a vata deficient person then practice this mudra in moderation only.
