Baboo has many health benefits and it is widely used in Ayurveda. Roots of Bamboo leaves, sprouts, grains, and bamboo manna are useful in many Ayurveda treatments.
Roots of Bamboo are cooling, laxative, diuretic tonic.
Leaves of Bamboo are cooling emmenagogue, vulnerary febrifuge and construct active.
Sprouts of Bamboo Laxative, thermogenic, anti-inflammatory, digestive, carminative, anthelmintic and diuretic.
Grains of Bamboo are anthelmintic, aphrodisiac, and tonic.
Bamboo manna is the siliceous secretion found in the internodes of the stems. It occurs as a bluish white translucent mass. These dried sugar-like granules are called bamboo manna. It is expectorant, haemostatic, aphrodisiac, diuretic and febrifuge.
Take few bamboo leaves and make a decoction from it and pour it into a shallow tub. Seat the piles patient in this tub so that the pile masses are completely immersed in the decoction. Do this regularly for fifteen minutes for shrinkage of pile masses.
Make a paste from the roots of Bamboo in water and instill a few drops in the eyes to prevent infections and cure inflammation at early stages.
Paste the bamboo manna pieces with some saumph seeds and take regularly until bleeding is controlled,
Dissolve pieces of the bamboo manna in water and add a few crushed cumin seeds to it. This preparation is taken internally dislodges worms and expels them.
Cough and other respiratory disorders.
Soothing to the throat and expectorant, manna is highly useful in coughs of all kinds. Powdered manna with some honey is ideal to lick down in such conditions. It has soothing activity on lung tissue.
Diarrhoea and dysentery
The organic salts present in bamboo ensure improvement in the quality of blood, and even bone and elastic tissue. This is why it works effectively in bleeding and its astringent and digestive properties make it a good anti-diarrhoeal.
Bamboo also has gentle action on the urinary tissue and is therefore used dissolved in water as a diuretic,
Consumption and wasting diseases
Rubbed with amla fruit and honey, it makes a preparation called murabba which is highly nutritive aphrodisiac.
