Circumstances which are accountable for this health condition involve the substantial consumption of acidic, spicy, bitter, excessive salt and foods that are fermented; greasy meat from fowls and other domesticated farm animals, liquor, consuming excess food even though prior food eaten is not yet absorbed by the body and indigestion. Other contributing factors which aggravate Menstrual Disorders are recurrent abortions, overly active sex life, and excessive strenuous physical activity (hiking, body building, pedaling, etc.), malnutrition, stress, and sleeping at broad daylight, Psychological issues like extreme sadness, rage, jealousy, and worries.
Signs and Symptoms
Burning sensation in the lower section of the groin
In accordance with the Ayurvedic point of view inadequate eating habits and poor digestive functions are the major contributing factors of Menstrual Disorder. Foods which are not properly digested often produce toxins inside the body. These toxins are carried away and spread by the blood to various vessels, veins and cells of the body, which later form into plaques that block and hinder normal blood flow. These blockages disrupt the Vata Dosha (air) and the Rakta Dhatu (blood). Thus, the impaired Vata delivers deteriorated blood into the blood vessels which transport the raj (menstrual blood) that cause excessive bleeding during menstruation.
The various Menstrual Disorder treatments which are highly endorsed by Ayurveda incorporate the use of rejuvenating and strengthening natural herbs along with therapeutic treatment conforming to the characteristics of the ailments. Massage therapy along with the integration of meditation and yoga proved to be advantageous to permanently eradicate the problem. Dealing with this menstrual issue is indeed essential considering women are driving out a massive quantity of their contaminants and impurities through this manner. Should these impurities stay in the body, they will surely induce more blockage and obstruction inside the body system.

Alternative treatments for gynaecological disorders
Many diseases which are peculiar to females but the chief disorders are connected with menstruation, discharge of white liquid laced with pus(leucorrhoea or the whites), diseases connected with pregnancy and child birth, prolapse of the uterus and infertility and frigidity. We shall first take the disorders connected with the menstrual periods. Menstruation is a periodic change occurring in human beings( and also some higher apes) consisting of discharge of blood from the cavity of the womb.
It occurs between 12 and 13 years in warm climates and later in cold regions. The duration of each menstrual period varies from 2 to 8 days and there is an interval of 21 to 28 days between the two periods.
The menstrual flow stops when a woman becomes pregnant and stops completely at the age of 44 or 50 years when it is known as the menopause or the grand climacteric. The two main disorders of menstruation are
1. absence of periods, or scanty and painful discharge, for applied and
2. profuse bleeding during the periods(menorrhagia) or irregularly(metrorrhagia).
amenorrhea(scanty discharge or menstrual blood) may be due to anemia or general ill health or due to certain serious diseases like T.B, aggravated dyspepsia and Bright disease, malaria etc. of a prolonged nature.
dysmenorrhea is characterized by pain like that of a colic and there is also prostration and vomiting. If the pain precedes the menstrual period, it is due to irritation in the ovary and is generally accompanied by pain in the groin.
In cases of scanty discharge of menstrual blood, the main cause should be diagnosed and removed. If it is due to anemia, the treatment for anemia is prerequisite to the treatment of amenorrhea. Aggravated dyspepsia, prolonged malaria or Bright’s disease should be treated first in case they have given rise to scanty and painful discharge of amenorrhea. In unspecified cases, or where the exact cause is not known, general tonics and remedies for improving the health of the patient should be administered.
Another cause of dysmenorrhea is inflammation of the various internal organs like the womb, the ovaries or the fallopian tubes, some times, the disorder is due to nervous causes, in which case there are spasms of pain.
Ayurveda prescribes the following medicines in cases of amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea called Nashtartava and Kashtartava respectively.
Hashish( prepared from ganja) taken in 30 mg. doses twice daily helps relieve the condition. 120 mg. of the drug kept in vagina helps relieve the pain of amenorrhea and dysmenorrhea.
