Self-Care Guide to Manage Stress

April 8, 2020 by Reba Webb

Stress is often an inevitable part of your life or experience and can have adverse effects on your energy, fatigue, and overall well-being. Though stressful days can be challenging to deal with, you should not let these negative thoughts take over and overwhelm you. There are small steps you can take to manage your stress in a healthy way, and all these steps ultimately point to self-care.

When experiencing stress, it is easy to forget about taking care of yourself or taking some time off to relax. It is during times of stress that self-care becomes all the more critical as it helps you get through difficulties and balance all aspects of your life. Whether it be giving yourself some time to do simple reflections or scavenging for the best vitamins for hair growth, skin care, and overall health, the smallest things can go a long way, especially once you incorporate them into your lifestyle.

Practice Meditation and Reflection

Meditation helps you relax and calm down, putting you in a state of mindfulness that allows you to focus on the present. Nowadays, you will find several applications to guide you in meditation practices and breathing exercises, especially if you are new to them. Doing these a few times a week can help reduce your stress levels and give you other healing benefits for both your mind and body.

Doing simple forms of reflection may also have significant benefits for your overall well-being. You can write positive affirmations on a diary, vent out your stressful thoughts in a journal, or jot down the things that you are grateful about within your day or week. These acts, though seemingly simple, can go a long way and help you forget about whatever stress you may have been feeling in your day.

Take Supplements

Stress was proven one of the causes of many hair and skin problems, such as hair fall, premature balding, acne breakouts, and dull and pale skin. Self-care includes managing your physical health, so you need to make sure you give yourself enough vitamins and nutrients. Try to find some daily supplements to help cleanse your skin and body, as well as the best vitamins for hair growth to keep your hair healthy and shiny. No matter how stressful your day can get, you should always find the time to take these vitamins to keep you strong and healthy.

Do Some Exercise

When you are stressed, exercise may be the last thing on your mind. However, there are significant benefits to doing regular physical activity. With that said, you do not necessarily have to commit to doing hour-long intensive sessions every day. Depending on your lifestyle, you can sneak in a 10-minute workout in the morning to help you feel energized or squeeze in a yoga session at night to help you de-stress.

Pamper Yourself

What better way to deal with a stressful day than with a pampering session? Try to devote some time to pamper yourself, so you feel refreshed, confident, and rejuvenated after. You can do it indoors through things like having a nice, warm bath or putting on a face mask, or outdoors through things like getting your nails or hair done.

Turn Off Social Media

Every day, you may be surrounded by gadgets and social media, both of which are filled with posts and images from billions of users. Given this, it may help to limit your time online and try to enjoy the things and people around you. Whether it be having a meal with your friends outside or staying at home and watching the sunset, there are several ways in which you can unwind without being online.
